Tanner Menees plays the viola largely in a chamber music setting. Mr. Menees has collaborated in chamber music performances with notable artists such as Martin Beaver, Denis Bouriakov, Miriam Fried, Clive Greensmith, Lynn Harrell, Frans Helmerson, Gary Hoffman, Marcy Rosen, and Peter Stumpf. In the summers he has performed at festivals such as the Marlboro Music Festival, Ravinia’s Steans Music Institute, Chamberfest Cleveland, Menuhin Festival String Academy, Edinburgh Music Festival, Juilliard String Quartet Seminar, and McGill International String Quartet Academy. Mr. Menees performed on Ravinia’s annual chamber music tour in 2017, and he is also a part of the Los Angeles Ensemble, a piano quartet based in LA.

Tanner Menees has performed as a soloist with the Colburn Orchestra under maestro Thierry Fischer as well as with Symphony New Hampshire. Orchestrally he has served as principal viola for the Colburn Orchestra under the batons of Sir Neville Marriner, Robert Spano, Michael Tilson Thomas, and Edo de Waart. Mr. Menees received his Bachelor of Music degree and Artist Diploma studying with Paul Coletti at the Colburn School. He currently resides in Boston and studies with Kim Kashkashian at the New England Conservatory as a Master of Music candidate.
