NEXUS Chamber Music makes their debut at the Ravinia Festival Pavilion with an exciting world premiere by renowned composer Augusta Read Thomas, alongside other glorious works by Amy Beach and Alma Mahler.

No longer quarantined, but yet not back to normal? NEXUS explores society’s transformation from isolation to a changed new reality through a gripping program that adds one player with each piece, culminating in Shostakovich’s dark and powerful String Quartet No. 8.

NEXUS embarks on a residency at the prestigious Oberlin Conservatory, performing another world premiere by Augusta Read Thomas and leading the Oberlin Orchestra in a riveting work by award-winning composer and violist Jessica Meyer.

Where music and poetry meet: NEXUS explores the connection between word and song in an exploratory program at Guarneri Hall, pairing works by Augusta Read Thomas and Alma Mahler with gripping poetic readings by distinguished American poet David Yezzi.

Co-Artistic Director Alexander Hersh takes NEXUS on the road with violinist Maria Ioudenitch and violist Chloé Thominet for a marathon program of string trios by Dohnányi, Sibelius, Kurtág, and Beethoven.
